We wanted to give an update on John’s status coming out of surgery…..John made it through successful bypass surgery and is recovering well. Please check back for updates on his condition as the week progresses – we should have news on his status periodically.
In addition to updates, we will take this time to link to John’s other work at The Washington Post, The Golf Channel and Golf Digest. Keep coming back to the site over the next few days to catch some topics you might have missed.

Glad to hear all went well. Good luck with the recovery!
Get well soon. Glad the surgery was successful.
Glad to hear things went well. You better hurry back, Duke and Coach K might need you next year in the backcourt!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Sorry we'll miss your comments on the AT&T.
John,
Just think how fast you'll be able to swim now! And how far!
Get well soon!
Get well soon, John! I bet six months from now you'll enjoy it so much you'll wonder why you didn't switch to the Mediterranean diet years ago.

John,
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
As a cancer survivor, I can tell you that once the pain of surgery is gone, life will be twice as grand!
John - heard about the surgery on ESPN Tuesday. Glad to hear that all went well. This is coming from one of your college buddies - Craig Rosenstein (like I'm sure you remember me after 32 years). We worked on The Chronicle together and graduated the same year. I've enjoyed listening to you and reading some of your books over the years. I live in Las Vegas now. Whenever you're out this way, call me. I can be reached at rabbirosenstein@earthlink.net I'll keep you in my prayers.
John: Scott and Mike mentioned your surgery today. We get no DC news down in Richmond. I heard Tiger has postponed the ATT til you are able to cover it. I hope and pray for a speedy recovery for you. Your work is great, and I know you are even a better person than that. I have been a big fan for years.
John,
I found this while seeking a way to reach out and say a simple thanks. You signed a book for my 15 year old at the US Open - it was his first Feinstein and you hoped it wouldn't be his last - that book is done and I came home last night to see a Good Walk Spoiled sitting on the counter - soon to it was in front of his nose. This for a kid who does not like to read - thus the thanks. Be well - make that lifestyle change - it can be done and is worth it.
John: Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Still a fan from Lafayette.

John - I'd prefer if my Duke classmates would not remind me of my own mortality. Feel better. Note that post-surgery depression is biochemical and does pass.
Fein--I talked to Bobby Fein this morning for the first time in more than 13 years--he sounds exactly the same. Does he look the same? He says you're cranky as ever, which must mean you are feeling better. That's great news. You'll be back in your Speedo and ripping the BCS in no time. If I could make you a non-fat margarita and send it your way I would. Get well!

John, Glad you have your surgery behind and here is to your full and speedy recovery. This is from 76Duke whose license plate you saw in Radford when Brad Greenberg was fortunate enough to have you speak at one of his functions. Looking forward to reading new articles and books.
Best wishes for a speedy and healthy recovery for you. How ironic, I just got your Let Me Tell You A Story book and am just about finished reading it when I see online you had surgery yesterday. I love the book, as I have some of your others I have read. Get well soon and back to writing asap!

Hi John, we met at Duke, I was a year behind you. I have followed you through your columns and books all these years. On behalf of all the anonymous Duke alumni and fans, get well soon!
Please give John these warm wishes for a solid recovery. I'm a longtime reader and listener, both to NPR and the Kornheiser radio spots via the web.
As a 52-year-old guy struggling with his own changing health, I was struck when Mike Wilbon told PTI viewers about John's surgery, more because I recalled he was a master's swimmer. If guys in good shape can fall victim to this kind of stuff, what chance do doughboys like me have of lasting long enough to see the Mets win again?
John's blog entry explaining the specifics of his pre-operation condition made me feel a bit better, but until I hear his voice giving Steve Inskeep some gentle sassing again, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good guy.
Hang in there.

Gregg Pokrywka, yer classmate at Duke. Whatever you do, see a Board certified Clinical Lipidologist ("cholesterol expert") and NOT a cardiologist, for Lipid management after this thing. If you are a nonsmoker, likely lipid mismanagement got you to bypass surgery, and a good Clinical Lipidologist can prevent the next atherosclerosis event. See me in Baltimore if you are near DC area.
Best for a speedy recovery old CGPS friend.
